Can You Sleep in Colored Contacts?

🌙 Take your colored contact lenses out before bed—even before a quick nap.
According to the FDA, sleeping in contact lenses intended for daytime wear can increase your risk of eye irritation and infection. Contact lens-related infections and corneal ulcers—open sores on the cornea—can develop quickly and may affect your vision.
If you notice unusual redness, eye pain, or blurred vision, remove your lenses immediately and contact your eye care professional right away. Do not reinsert your lenses.
A monthly or yearly replacement schedule tells you when to replace your lenses. Wear contact lenses during sleep only if they are approved for overnight wear and your eye care professional has specifically advised you to do so.
🧼 Before removing your lenses, wash your hands with soap and water and dry them completely with a clean cloth. Clean, disinfect, and store reusable lenses according to the instructions for your lenses and solution. Discard daily disposable lenses after use.
👓 Keep your glasses nearby for an easy switch if needed.
